Oct 27, Colombo: The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) in Sri Lanka will take measures to prevent chlorine gas leaks in its water facilities.
NWSDB Engineering Assistant, R.A.S. Ananda said the latest measure was proposed following a chlorine gas leak that took place in Avissawella recently.
He has explained that the NWSDB has planned to build a wall around the water supply station in Avissawella in order to shield the houses located in the vicinity.
He has added that the Board has also directed the station not to change chlorine cylinders after 5 p.m.
According to Ananda, warning indicators would alert the nearby estate in the event of a chlorine gas leak.
