Oct 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the authorities have not yet provided solutions to the villagers in Rathupaswala, Gampaha for their drinking water problem.
JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told parliament that the government has not provided solutions to the people in Rathupaswala who have been demanding for clean drinking water since August.
He questioned whether the government and the relevant authorities would provide the required solutions.
Pointing out that the demand for drinking water has resulted in a massive protest that had even resulted in three deaths, Dissanayake called for the report on the Rathupaswala incident to be presented in parliament.
The JVP MP also asked whether a final solution to the water crisis would be made in the report.
