Oct 24, New York: Sri Lanka has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to make a contribution to the UNDP Thematic Trust Fund in Support of Poverty Reduction.
The Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nation in New York, Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona, and the Director of the United Nations Millennium Campaign, Ms. Corinne Woods, signed the MoU at the Chancery premises on October 18, 2013.
Under the MoU Sri Lanka will contribute US$ 70,000 to the United Nations Millennium Campaign and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thematic Trust Fund in Support of Poverty Reduction, a statement released by the Permanent Mission in New York said.
The MoU also includes technical assistance for the 2014 World Conference on Youth.
Last year, Sri Lanka donated US$ 30,000 to the Trust Fund established for the United Nations Secretary General's Youth Envoy.
Sri Lanka says that it remains proactively engaged in promoting youth engagement in national and international platforms and processes.
