Oct 20, Colombo: Leader of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremasinghe has assigned parliamentarian Kabir Hashim to discuss party reforms with seniors.
UNP Kegalle District parliamentarian has been assigned to discuss with former deputy leaders of the party, parliamentarians Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa about the proposed reforms for the party that includes the formation of a leadership council.
Hashim has said that he would work towards reaching a settlement that would be acceptable to all parties concerned.
Hashim told the media that Wickremasinghe had assigned him to have a dialogue with Jayasuriya and Premadasa on the proposals on party reforms presented by the party leader.
Wickremasinghe last week handed over a 19 point proposal on party reforms to Jayasuriya and Premadasa that is to be discussed further.
According to Hashim, Wickremasinghe had not requested him to speak in support of the proposals, but to reach a settlement.
