Oct 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says that the true power of a strong people's force has not been properly applied to find solutions to problems faced by the public in Sri Lanka.
JVP politburo member and head of the National Trade Union Centre (NTUC), K.D. Lalkantha said that people have failed to understand the strength of a people's force.
He observed that the people in any country have the right to elect their own leaders and to form a strong people's power.
"A strong people's force is like a weapon that could be used to find solutions to the many issues faced by the public. However, failure to properly apply this force has resulted in people having to continue with their problems," Lalkantha explained.
He pointed out that the people have the right to use the rights vested with them when the rulers fail to find solutions to their problems.
"Grumbling without using the powers vested with them will not find solutions to the problems faced by people at present," Lalkantha said.
