Oct 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the current bankrupt capitalist system would prevent the people in the country from enjoying a high living standard.
JVP Propaganda Secretary, parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said that a failed economic system coupled with an anti-people government have failed to provide relief to the people.
He explained that neither the poor nor the rich are free to live peacefully under the current system.
"The poor are suffering because they are battling for survival while the rich are suffering due to various extortions taking place with businessmen being attacked and abducted for ransom," Herath said.
He observed that a genuine and strong people's force is needed to change the existing system and find solutions to the issues faced by the people.
"The current government fulfills only the requirements of multi-national companies, facilitate casinos, prostitution and drugs. The government has also pushed the country into a debt trap," Herath added.
