Oct 10, Colombo: The Government Chief Whip of Sri Lanka parliament Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said today that the government had not taken any decision to block Facebook in Sri Lanka.
He made this statement in response to a question asked by the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa spoke against Facebook at a function held in a school in Panadura yesterday. He said that Facebook was an epidemic to the entire younger generation in the world.
Certain media reports said that the President had said the Facebook would be banned, but the government media denied the media reports and said the President has spoken of improving the moral values of the younger generation.
