Oct 06, Colombo: The chief organizer of the protest walk against Ranil Wickremasinghe, the leader of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP), says that they will launch a sit-in campaign calling to oust the UNP leader.
Provincial Councilor Maithri Gunaratna said that they are now trying to reserve a place in Colombo to launch the protest campaign.
Saturday's protest walk which was planned to be held from Devinuwara in Matara district to Colombo was suspended under a court ruling after mobs attacked the protest within a few kilometers of the start.
One person was severely injured in a shootout that took place amidst a clash that injured seven people. Police arrested Maithri Gunaratna's father and another 24 people for the clash.
