Oct 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka military has demolished an underground bunker of slain Tamil Tiger terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran in Pudukuduirippu, the last stronghold of the vanquished terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Military Spokesperson, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya told local media that the bunker was detonated and destroyed as it is useless to keep LTTE monuments.
The well-fortified bunker had four stories under the ground. The Army is conducting demining operations in the area where the bunker was located.
The camouflaged bunker was discovered after the Army ended the offensive in 2009. It was built to keep the Tiger leader and other senior LTTE leaders protected from government forces.
