Oct 01, Colombo: A Singapore medical company called Singapore Dialysis Medical Group announced that the plans are under way to set up a specialized hospital for kidney dialysis in Sri Lanka where a part of the country is affected with renal diseases.
Singapore Dialysis Medical Group plans to invest US$ 1.5 million in the hospital that is to be set up in Kohuwala, Sri Lanka's investment promotion agency Board of Investment (BOI) said.
The hospital will mainly provide hemodialysis, one of two forms of dialysis and commonly known as blood dialysis, announced a statement issued by the BOI.
In Sri Lanka, the demand for blood dialysis is very high but many patients cannot afford the private hospital charges for the service.
