Tue, Jul 2, 2013, 11:01 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 02, Colombo: The former Women's Political Wing leader of the terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Subramaniam Shivathavi alias Thamalini is to get the membership in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), political sources say.

Sources also say that Thamalini will contest as a candidate of the SLFP to the upcoming Northern Provincial Council election.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is the leader of the SLFP is expected to approve Thamilini's membership after his return to country.

Thamalini was arrested by state military when she was with the civilians in a refugee camp following the defeat of the LTTE. She was detained for a long time and released recently after a rehabilitation programme in Poonthottam Rehabilitation Camp in Vavuniya.
