* First time migrant workers of Sri Lanka asked to register at Foreign Employment Bureau offices

Dec 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has decided to suspend registering first time migrant workers at the SLBFE desk in the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

Accordingly, the first time migrants for employment cannot register at the airport from January 01 and those employees who do not migrate via foreign employment recruitment agencies will have to register at the SLFEB head office or at one of the district offices.

However, the employees re-taking employment at the same work place they were previously employed and the employees that migrate via agencies may still register at the airport.

SLFEB registration is essential for the Sri Lankans migrating for foreign employment.
