Dec 30, Jaffna: Sri Lanka Navy arrested another 18 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu on Sunday, a day after arresting 22 Indian fishermen, for allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan waters and seized their dhows.

SLNS Udara and Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command arrested 18 Indian fishermen and seized three boats engaged in illegal fishing in the Northern seas off Delft Island of Sri Lanka on 29th December 2013.

The Navy said one of the boats had hand held GPS equipment which confirms that they have purposely entered in to Sri Lankan waters.

The arrested fishermen have been brought to Kankasanthurai (KKS) harbor and handed over to the Fisheries Authorities in Jaffna.

Following the two arrests, Sri Lanka has 267 Indian fishermen and 79 boats in custody.
