Dec 30, Colombo: The Central Working Committee of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the main constituent party of ruling alliance has scheduled to hold a meeting on 2nd January, a senior party spokesman said.

The meeting will be held under the patronage of party leader, President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees.

The Committee is expected to discuss at length the future programs of the party, especially the measures to address recent defeats of budget proposals at several ruling party controlled local government bodies.

The meeting will also focus on the dissolution of Southern and Western Provincial Councils and the upcoming elections for those.

The government had earlier decided to dissolve the two Provincial Councils before the end of this year but according to local media it will take place during the first two weeks of January.

The polls are expected to be held in March next year.
