Dec 28, Trincomalee: The Eastern Provincial Council of Sri Lanka has set up a Provincial Development Forum to follow the development programs in the province.
The Forum was reportedly set up at an event held at the Eastern Provincial Council auditorium in Trincomalee that was attended by all department heads in the provinces.
Eastern Province Chief Minister Najeeb Abdul Majeed addressing the gathering has said that the Forum would enable councilors, ministers and heads of departments to discuss development related issues in the province.
The Chief Minister commented that it is a rare opportunity for all Eastern Provincial Council officials to make decisions related to development programs without allowing for racial, religious and other differences.
He also called on all those in the Forum to give top priority to the legitimate aspirations of the people with regard to the development of their respective areas.
The Provincial Development Forum had also discussed the implementation of the Annual Implementation Programme of the Year 2013 and the issues faced in the implementation of the programme.
