Dec 27, Galle: Sri Lankan police had arrested a British couple vacationing in Sri Lanka for assaulting an employee working in the hotel the couple were staying in Unawatuna, Galle in the South.

The British couple had been arrested on Thursday night for assaulting the employee.

The couple had reportedly attacked the worker with a bottle when he was walking past their room. The worker had been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after sustaining injuries due to the attack.

It was reported in local media that another worker had knocked on the couple's room earlier.

The tourists are scheduled to be produced in the court today, the police said.
