Wed, Dec 25, 2013, 08:45 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 25, Colombo: Election Commissioner of Sri Lanka has summoned all the District Election Commissioners to Colombo for a special discussion on the upcoming provincial elections.

The meeting will take place at the Election Secretariat in Colombo tomorrow (26). The Election Commissioner is expected to instruct the District Election Commissioners on the procedures of holding election and counting ballots.

The meeting of the election officers is held amidst speculations that the Western and Southern Provincial Councils will be dissolved soon.

However, the sources close to the government say that the said Provincial Councils will not be dissolved as speculated within this year. Instead, the councils will be dissolved in January, government sources say. The provincial elections are expected to be held in March next year.
