* Sri Lanka petroleum authority to import low sulphur 98 Octane diesel from April next year
Wed, Dec 25, 2013, 08:36 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 25, Colombo: Sri Lanka's petroleum authority, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) plans to import low sulphur 98 Octane diesel from April next year.

The CPC earlier announced that it would stop importing 90 Octane gasoline currently sold in the local market and replace it with 92 Octane gasoline from January next year.

The diesel sold in the local market at present contains 2,000 ppm of sulphur and the new 98 Octane diesel to be imported next year will have the sulphur content reduced to 500 ppm.

The CPC is now engaged in a process to systematically phase down the sulphur content in diesel in the local market to reduce vehicular emissions.
