Sun, Dec 22, 2013, 11:03 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 22, Colombo: Lakshman Hulugalla, the former Director General of Sri Lanka's dissolved defense media center, Media Center for National Security (MCNS), has reportedly been admitted to a private hospital due to a sudden illness.

Local media reports said the former official was admitted to Lanka Hospitals after consuming poison. However, Hulugalla has denied the media reports that he was admitted to the hospital.

The Defense Ministry had dissolved the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) with effect from November 1but Hulugalla remained in the Ministry.

According to local media outlet Ada Derana, Hulugalla was linked to the transfer of 23 officers and constables including four inspectors from the Police Department's Organized Crimes Investigation Unit after the officers raided an illegal casino center in the Colombo Town Hall area.

Hulugalla, however, has denied his involvement in the matter.
