* Sri Lanka Sports Minister says allegations against him levelled by sacked sports officials
Sat, Dec 14, 2013, 10:22 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage said in parliament today that the allegations against him were masterminded by three heads of sports bodies related to cricket, football and athletics who were sacked by him.

Addressing the debate on the committee stage of the budget, the Minister said that an audit query in the Sri Lanka Athletics Federation ordered by him is a reason for the allegations.

Referring to the allegations his wife made to the police that he threatened her, the Minister admitted that he had personal issues in his family life. However, a police investigation into his wife's allegations found no evidence to support her claims.

Aluthgamage said he had businesses and the politicians had to do business in the present context.

Media revealed the assets of Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and questioned how they were earned.
