Sri Lanka Navy said today that Navy and Coast Guard craft on routine patrol arrested 30 Indian fishermen and seized 8 Indian trawlers engaged in illegal fishing in the northern seas.

The fishermen were taken into custody in the Sri Lankan waters approximately 5 nautical miles east of Analathivu, the Navy said.

The arrested fishermen have been brought to Kankasanthurai harbor to be handed over to the Assistant DFAR Director in Jaffna for legal action.
