Dec 11, Colombo: The Working Committee of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) decided to suggest four major proposals to the upcoming general assembly.
Accordingly, UNP Working Committee decided to legalize and empower the newly established Leadership Council, make the party statements in one voice, abolish executive presidency and to demand the government to relieve the people from escalating cost of living.
The UNP Working Committee approved a 100 day organization development programme also named as Janajaya.
The Working Committee also proposed to name 2014 as the year the government would be ousted and to continue the agitations throughout the year.
The party will hold its general assembly on December 21 and several important decisions will be taken at the meeting, party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe said Tuesday.
