Dec 11, Colombo: The government of Sri Lanka has decided to assign development officers to assist senior judges like the Chief Justice and the judges of the Supreme Court.

The Cabinet of Ministers has reportedly approved the proposal by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to assign development officers or researchers to assist senior judges.

The Justice Ministry has received directives to commence the selection process for law graduates proficient in English among those who have been recruited to the Graduate Training Scheme.

Once the selection process is completed, the chosen graduates are to be taken under the Development Officer's service.

The President's proposal has also included the assigning of a personal assistant/private secretary to the Chief Justice.
