* Sri Lankan capital readying for night motor races once again

Dec 09, Colombo: Streets of Sri Lanka's capital Colombo will become race tracks for car and motor cycle racers as the city is being prepared to hold the night motor races once again.

Night car and motorcycle races will be held in Colombo on December 15th. The qualifying rounds will be held on 14th December.

The road sides along streets in in Colombo Fort and Galle Face areas are being prepared with sand bags and tire linings for the safety of the spectators.

Organizers say that about 150,000 sand bags and 500 tires are used for building temporary walls.

The Colombo Night Races 2013 is organized by the Carlton Motor Sports Club in conjunction with the Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) , Sri Lanka Racing Riders Associations (SLRRA) and Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers & Riders (SLARDAR).

Leading to the event, on a demo run and a photo shoot is organized in Galle Face, in the heart of the city on the 13th of December.

A classic car show by The Classic Car Club of Ceylon and a massive fireworks display are also to be taken place.
