Aug 30, Colombo: Narcotics Bureau of Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Customs today discovered a large stock of heroin imported to the island.
The discovery was made when a container, declared to be containing lubricants, was inspected at the Custom Clearing Section at Orugodawatta, near the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
The stock reportedly contained at least 100 kilograms of heroin, largest ever heroin stock seized in the country. The value of the stock is estimated at one billion rupees.
The consignment of the narcotics concealed in a container of grease cans has been brought to the country from Pakistan.
Police Narcotics Bureau says that they were looking for the container for two months and finally discovered it from the Orugodawatta yard. The container is being searched for more drugs.
The police have arrested a Pakistan national and three Sri Lankans for questioning.
