Aug 27, Colombo: A Sudanese military delegation visiting Sri Lanka has held discussion with Sri Lanka's Secretary Defence and Urban Development, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on Monday (August 26).
The Sudanese delegation led by the former secretary general of defence ministry Gen. (Retd) Abdel- Rahman Mohamed Zein met the Secretary and discussed joint military cooperation between the armed institutions of the two countries.
The two sides have discussed areas of mutual interest and bilateral relations, the Defense Ministry said.
According to a report in Sudanese Tribune Secretary Rajapaksa during a visit to Khartoum in August 2012 has met Sudanese Defense Minister Abdel Rahim Hussein and discussed ways to cooperate between Sudanese and Sri Lankan military training institutes in order to share expertise and knowledge.
Rajapaksa has delivered a lecture at the military college in Khartoum on "Sri Lankan Experience in Defeating Terrorism and Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Reconciliation".
Hussein and Rajapaksa last year have signed a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation in the field of training.
The Sudanese delegation visited Sri Lankan military training institutes for exploring further training opportunities.
