Aug 26, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court today ordered the government to investigate into the disappearance of over 2,500 people who had gone missing in the North and East.
Colombo additional magistrate Nirosha Fernando ordered the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) of police to immediately launch a broad investigation into the disappearances of 2,550 people in the North and East.
The director of TID today submitted a confidential list of the names of the missing persons to the court and the Additional Magistrate ordered the documents be kept in the Court's Safe.
The court granted permission to a request made by the TID to conduct investigations and instructed the TID to furnish the court with their report.
