Aug 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris left for Pakistan today (22) on a two-day official visit, the External Affairs Ministry announced.
He will be visiting Islamabad to officially extend the invitation to the Pakistani government to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo in November.
During his visit, Minister Peiris will hold bilateral discussions with the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs (Foreign Minister) Sartaj Aziz, and Minister of Finance Mohammed Ishaq Dar.
The External Affairs Minister visited India earlier in the week to invite Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to the Commonwealth summit.
