Aug 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka's state owned Janatha Estate Development Board (JEDB) which comes under the Ministry of State Assets and Enterprise Development has called for interests from private sector to establish five small scale hydropower plants.
JEDB has identified five waterfalls and rivers capable of hosting hydropower plants from 0.3 to 5 megawatts.
The water resources are in the JEDB estates in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
The private sector firms with capability are invited to establish and maintain the hydropower plants in these estates.
The plants are required to supply the generated electricity to the national grid of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
