Aug 21, Colombo: The Sri Lanka police have commenced investigations into the missing key of the Colombo Municipal Secretariat and the burning of thousands of Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) files.
Municipal Secretary H.D.C. Janaki has complained to the Cinnamon Gardens Police about the key to the Secretariat going missing.
Acting Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Cinnamon Garden Police, K.H.M.G. Karunaratna has said the police will commence investigations today (21).
Police investigations follow a complaint made by the Colombo Mayor, A.J.M. Muzammil, and three Municipal Councilors, Mahendra Darshana Silva (UNP), Eric Chandrasena (UPFA) and Roy Bogahawatte (DUA).
Around 6,000 municipal files and papers were set on fire at the Borella Cemetery, by a group of CMC officials on Saturday (17) evening.
