Aug 21, Colombo: The Leader of Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Somawansa Amarasinghe and the Member of the Central Committee Comrade Dr. H.P. Dhammika have left the island yesterday for a visit to China.
The party leaders are visiting China on an invitation from Chinese Communist Party to participate in a 10-day international summit organized for South Asian Socialist Parties, the JVP announced.
Socialist parties from India, Bangladesh and Nepal are also expected to participate in the summit held from August 20 - 30th.
The announcement said that the representatives of South Asian Socialist parties will also participate in discussions and workshops held to apprise the participants on the experiences of Chinese Communist Party and will be held at historically important places of the Chinese Revolution.
They are also scheduled to visit Communist Party schools in various regions and hold discussions with their heads and lecturers.
