Aug 20, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has expressed doubts over emerging victorious at the forthcoming Northern Provincial Council elections.
Treasurer of the governing Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Minister Dullas Alahapperuma has said the government was confident of winning the North Western and Central Provincial Councils.
He has however said that winning the Northern Provincial Council is still in the balance and would depend on the campaign.
According to Alahapperuma, a survey conducted on the forthcoming provincial council elections has found that the governing party would win four out of the 14 seats in the Northern Provincial Council while the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) would win five seats.
He has observed that the governing party's campaign would build confidence among the people in the North.
