Aug 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Matale Magistrate and Additional District Judge issued notice today to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for failing to abide by a court order.
The notice was issued since the CID had failed to publish as court ordered the information regarding the Matale mass grave in the newspapers for the public awareness.
The court ordered the information on the mass grave be published in newspapers in all three languages.
The counsels appearing for the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) pointed out that the CID had failed to abide with the court order.
Another 28 affidavits by the relatives of the disappeared persons were submitted to the court today.
The court postponed the hearing to November 04.
The mass grave in Matale was unearthed last November at the Matale Hospital ground and 154 skeletal remains were exhumed from the site.
Forensic studies revealed that the skeletal remains belonged to the period between 1986 and 1990 during the second Marxist uprising.
