* Sri Lanka, Belarus agree to avoid double taxation

Aug 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka and Belarus have recently held discussions on reaching an agreement to avoid double taxation on income.

The negotiations between the two countries were held at the Ministry of Taxes and Duties in Minsk, Belarus from 5th to 9th August 2013.

Sri Lanka's Finance and Planning Ministry said the negotiations between Sri Lanka and Belarus on Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income ended successfully on 09th August 2013.

The Sri Lankan delegation was headed by Senior Deputy Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department H.B.A. Senevirathne, and the Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Taxes and Duties Ms. Ella Selitskaya.

Representatives from both the Ministry of Finance and Planning and Inland Revenue Department of Sri Lanka and Ministry of Taxes and Duties of Belarus also participated in the negotiations.
