Mon, May 6, 2013, 10:06 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) plans to draft a new constitution for the country to address the current issues.

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has said that a discussion would be held on drafting a new constitution since the country is in need of a new set of rules.

He has noted that the UNP's policy research division is currently drafting a few recommendations on the matter adding that views of other parties would also be taken in to account when drafting the new constitution.

According to Wickremasinghe, the country is in need of a new approach of governance that is beneficial to the people, especially, since the country's parliament system has been challenged.
