Mar 23, Colombo: The Chairman of teachers' movement, Ceylon Teachers' Union, Priyantha Fernando said that the teachers of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka would boycott the school term tests scheduled for Saturdays.

The trade union says that the Minister of Education of North Central Provincial Council Peshala Jayarathna has scheduled to hold the term tests on Saturdays violating the Ministry of Education circulars.

The Ceylon Teachers' Union held a protest demonstration in the Anuradhapura city against the Provincial Council decision.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council S.M. Ranjith said that he would discuss with the teachers unions and rectify the problem.
