Mar 22, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has received approval from its Cabinet to award a tender to construct an eight-storied building for the Epilepsy Treatment Centre at Sri Lanka's main National Hospital in Colombo.
A proposal made by the Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena has sought to award a tender to the lowest bidder to construct the building at a cost of Rs. 1.793 billion as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC).
The government will spend Rs. 3 billion to establish the Epilepsy Hospital and Health Care Center with financial assistance from the Saudi Arabian government.
The Center, which will provide specialized services to about 300,000 epilepsy patients in the country, is scheduled to be completed by 2014.
