Mar 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka police and immigration officers have arrested 23 Asian females from Nepal, China and Thailand for violating visa regulations, a police official said Friday.
According to police, 11 Nepali women who were illegally working in a dance club in Bambalapitiya were arrested for working on a tourist visa.
In another raid police and immigration officers have arrested 6 Chinese and 6 Thai girls last night from a hotel in Colpetty in the capital and another nearby restaurant. The girls were working while in the country on tourist visa.
The arrested women have been handed over to the Immigration and Emigration Department authorities for further investigations.
The foreign nationals will be deported once the investigations are over, immigration authorities said.
