Mar 14, Colombo: A new political front is in the formation in Sri Lanka against the nationalist chauvinism and religious extremism, political sources say.
Leader of the Muslim Tamil National Alliance, Asath Sally said the new political front is named as Unity of Diversity and the first public appearance of the organization will be held on March 17 in Colombo.
Sources revealed that the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and Marxist People's Liberation Front leader Somawansa Amarasinghe will be participating in the rally.
Sally said that the Unity of Diversity is formed to promote ethnic and religious harmony against the fueling of anti-Muslim sentiments by extremist elements.
