Mar 14, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court today ordered the prison authorities to present a medical certificate on the medical status of governing party MP Duminda Silva, who is accused of murdering Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Sadun Vithana directed the Prisons Department to submit a medical certificate from the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) on Silva's medical condition to determine whether he could be present in court.
The magistrate ordered that the report be submitted to court on March 22.
Counsel for the aggrieved party, Attorney-at-Law Ajith Pathirana said that although there were several reports regarding Silva's medical condition, the JMO is yet to submit one.
Silva's counsel, President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya responded that Silva's medical reports have already been submitted and that he had undergone several serious surgeries.
