Mar 12, Colombo: Six Philippine sailors suspected of murdering a shipmate onboard a ship anchored at the Colombo Port surrendered to the police today, the police said.
A 37-year-old Philippine sailor was found hacked to death in a Taiwan ship anchored in the Colombo Port on Monday, and the police were on a manhunt to arrest the six Filipinos who were suspected of the killing.
The six suspects who fled the ship have surrendered to the Colombo Harbor police through the Philippine Embassy, the police said.
The victim has been identified as Prebin Magalonse Bonius.
Colombo Harbor Police is recording the suspects' statements with the assistance of a translator from the Philippine Embassy, local media reports said.
