Mar 11, Colombo: The powerful union of Sri Lankan government doctors will appoint an interim committee to overcome the current crisis in the union.
The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) says an interim committee would be appointed to handle the day to day functions of the association.
Secretary of the GMOA, Dr. Chandima Epitakaduwa has said the new interim committee will function under the central committee of the GMOA.
The GMOA 's central committee is to meet on the 24th of this month.
Dr. Epitakaduwa has noted that issues faced by its members at the National Hospital in Colombo would be brought to the notice of the parent body.
The crisis at the GMOA commenced with the decision by members of the association at the National Hospital in Colombo deciding to launch a token strike without the consent of the main body.
Following the unilateral decision to strike, the main body of GMOA dissolved its branch at the Colombo National Hospital.
