* Disciplinary probes postponed against Sri Lanka major opposition MPs

Mar 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka Deputy Minister of Environment Abdul Cader did not appear today before the main opposition United National Party (UNP) disciplinary committee that was to probe the case against the MP for voting in favor of the impeachment motion against the former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.

MP Cader who has crossed over to the government submitted a medical certificate to the disciplinary committee through a lawyer.

The MP is reportedly sick and cannot appear before the disciplinary committee due to medical instructions.

Colombo district judge Amal Ranaraja on March 08th declined to issue an order to prevent a disciplinary probe by the UNP against its Kandy district MP Abdul Cader.

Meanwhile, UNP MPs Ashoka Abeysinghe and Palitha Range Bandara appeared in party headquarters today for a disciplinary probe against them for participating in a rally of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka without party approval.

The probe was postponed to April 26 since a member of the investigation panel did not appear today.
