Mar 09, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court in Batticaloa district of Eastern Province has directed the son of a ruling party minister to go before a mediation board for a settlement on assaulting a senior police officer's son.

Valaichchenai Chief Magistrate has directed the son of Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Daham Sirisena to appear before a mediation board on the charges of assaulting Asela Vaidyalankara, the son of Senior Deputy Inspector General Ravi Vaidyalankara.

Accordingly, both persons should appear before the mediation board which comprises some eminent persons in the area to discuss a way forward for a settlement.

Daham Sirisena and a group of his friends had allegedly assaulted Asela Vaidyalankara on February 24th at the Malu Malu beach resort in Pasikuda in the Eastern Province.
