* Sri Lanka Cricket crisis ends, Test squad announced for Bangladesh series
Mon, Mar 4, 2013, 08:14 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 04, Colombo: The crisis developed between Sri Lanka's cricket authority and the players ended today with 23 national players signing the annual contract and the cricket authority Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announcing a strong Test squad for the first Test against Bangladesh.

All cricketers except Mahela Jayawardena who is currently overseas signed the original contract SLC offered following the intervention of Chief Selector Sanath Jayasuriya.

Earlier, the national cricketers requesting the SLC to reinstate the 25% guarantee fee, which is a payment made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for participation in ICC events, refused to sign the annual contracts.

However, the SLC refused to reinstate the fee and barred the players from the team facilities and services and decided to field a new team for the upcoming Bangladesh Test matches.

The newly appointed National Captain Angelo Mathews, on behalf of the national team players had requested a meeting with the Chairman of Selectors Sanath Jayasuriya and following the meeting with Jayasuriya yesterday, the players have agreed to the SLC terms.

The SLC says the amounts allocated to the 23 National Players from the current contracts amounts to 67% of the 2013 revenue generated by SLC and If SLC agreed to grant the players request to include the guarantee fee component to the contract value SLC will have to bear 81% of its annual revenue towards the 23 Cricketers, leaving no provision for a successful all round year.

Following the successful end to the dispute, the Selection Committee announced the Test squad for the first Test of the Bangladesh Tour scheduled to be held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from March 8 -12.

Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep who were in the original squad of 20 players have not been considered for the 1st Test Match due to injury.

The selected players have all duly signed their contracts offered by SLC and the Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has approved the squad.

Test Squad: Angelo Mathews (Capt), Dinesh Chandimal (V. Capt & Wk), T.M. Dilshan, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Shaminda Eranga, Kusal Janith, Jeewan Mendis, Kithruwan Vithanage, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, Chanaka Welegedara, Suranga Lakmal, Rangana Herath and P.H.T Kaushal
