Mar 04, Colombo: The Sri Lankan authorities are yet to finalize and release the report on the riot at the Welikada Prison last November that resulted in the death of at least 27 inmates.
The Rehabilitation and Prisons Reforms Ministry has said the report that was to be handed over this week has been further delayed.
Ministry Secretary G.S. Vithanage has noted that the report was initially to be handed over today, but the committee has requested for more time to finalize the report.
He has said the committee had requested for another period of one month to submit the report.
The report on the clash at the Vavuniya prison that took place last July resulting in the death of two inmates is also not yet finalized.
