Mar 03, Colombo: The central committee of the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) of Sri Lanka today approved the GMOA executive committee decision to dissolve the Colombo National Hospital branch.
Assistant Secretary of GMOA, Dr. Nalin Ariyarathna said the GMOA central committee that met this morning and took the decision to approve the dissolution of the branch.
The decision to dissolve the main branch was taken after some doctors of the GMOA at the Colombo National Hospital had initiated a strike without the permission of the main branch in violation of laws of the association.
The doctors at the main hospital held a strike Friday to demand the government to remove the irregularities in annual transfers.
A spokesman of the GMOA Colombo National Hospital branch said the decision was not valid.
