Mar 03, Colombo: Internal sources of Sri Lanka's ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) say the party hierarchy is considering to conduct a disciplinary probe against the party's General Secretary Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena.
According to sources, the Minister is accused of holding a press conference where he made some controversial statements that caused to build up mistrust and disrepute regarding the party leaders.
He is also accused of interfering in a police probe related to the alleged assault of Batticaloa DIG Ravi Waidyalankara's son by his son Daham Sirisena and 12 of his friends at a hotel in Pasikuda.
The Minister also spoke of death threats to himself and a conspiracy to prevent him from becoming prime minister.
Meanwhile, sources further said that the newly appointed SLFP national organizer, President's younger brother, Minister Basil Rajapaksa will meet Minister Sirisena next week to discuss the disagreements.
