Mar 03, Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the first ever reception hall of the Sri Lanka Air Force, 'Eagles Lagoon View' Reception Hall, at Katunayake Saturday (March 02) on the invitation of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal HD Abeywickrema.
The two-storied reception hall with a panoramic view of the Negombo lagoon encompasses a total area of 23,000 square feet designed to host wedding receptions. It has a 9,000 square feet banquet hall, a bridal dressing room, a studio, four dual occupancy rooms and two large changing rooms for performers.
The Air Field Construction Wing has carried out the constructions of the Reception Hall and the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Wing and the Command Agro Unit of the SLAF have finished the electrical work and the landscaping respectively.
The facility completed at a cost of approximately Rs. 45 million and will be available for reservations of weddings and other functions for both service personnel and civilians at a fraction of the cost of hotels.
