Mar 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka health sector will take measure to restructure to eliminate the irregularities in annual transfers of the sector, Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala said.
The official stressed the need for a proper transfer system for all hospitals island wide including the Colombo National Hospital.
The doctors of Sri Lanka's Colombo National Hospital are to hold a 24-hour strike today demanding solutions to the irregularities in annual transfers.
The mooted system will be implemented by a transfer board comprising the representatives of trade unions, Dr. Mahipala told the state-run radio SLBC.
According to the powerful doctors' union, Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) doctors apply for transfers according to vacancies advertised by the Health Ministry.
However, this year the Health Ministry has failed to publicize the existing vacancies for the doctors to apply.
